Puffin Cottage a typical Scottish cottage, is located in the heart of the fishing village of Pittenweem. It is only two hundred yards from the active harbour, which is the home of the East Neuk fishing fleet and the increasingly popular Pittenweem Arts Festival. Close to Pittenweem lies the May Isle, which is home to forty thousand puffins (hence the name) and if you time it right you can take one of the boat trips to visit the May Isle and see for yourself.
Pittenweem is a very traditional fishing village in the East Neuk with its quaint little wynds leading to the shore and harbour. The local fishing boats land daily during the week and is quite a sight to see. It is the only East Neuk village still with a working harbour with fishing boats coming and going and an early morning fish market. Pittenweem fresh fish is bought here and sold by the many local vans which travel all over Scotland.
Other attractions are the beaches, art galleries and during the month of August the Pittenweem Arts Festival and fireworks display is a must. At any time of year, Pittenweem is a great location for a holiday - for families, for friends, for couples, for individuals - for you! It has a long history in arts and crafts and it’s easy to spend time exploring and browsing the galleries, antique and craft shops, stopping for a coffee as you go. On a more practical level the local shops are still around to give you that true village feel, there is a butcher, baker, fish-monger, convenience store, pharmacy, post office, garage and hairdresser all within Pittenweem, as well as pubs and cafes serving food and drink.
Puffin Cottage will comfortably sleep four people and contains a sitting room, dining / kitchen, two bedrooms (one twin, one double) and bathroom with shower over bath. Gas central heating and electric feature fire. A small enclosed rear garden and on street parking. A true taste of Scotland and its hospitality.
